Banele Mnqobi Njoko, Mr. Gay SA finalist, a 3rd year honours student in Communication and Development at University of KwaZulu Natal proves he can it too, Njoko is one of the Mr. Gay SA finalist who has been very busy and dedicated to the competition ever since he qualified for the top 12.
Njoko has inspired a lot of young gay men to be themselves and be comfortable on their own skin. The young man who originally comes from one of the rural areas of KwaZulu-Natal where being gay is a taboo has worked on changing this attitude towards the people of KZN and SA as a whole. He has been very active on the competition and have made it very clear to people on what he is hoping to achieve which he believe the competition Mr. Gay SA will help him make a mark and be a successful young men, ''success is explained by what you are wishing to achieve'' He explains.
Mr Njoko hope to impress the judges this Saturday in Johannesburg, Gold Reef City at the Lyric Theater. Njoko strongly believes that he did well with the pre-judging and his goal is to remain the best that he is and only raise the bar if there is a need to do more. ''I am grateful to be part of this competition and I must say I have gained a lot and hoping to keep the standard of the pageant as it is since it's a very upmarket competition. All the contestants get on very well and work very good together which also explains the quality of this project'' Mr. Njoko said.
Mr Njoko is hoping to get on board at least 3 blacks, whites, indian and coloured gay men from each race for next years competition if he wins. He strongly believes that he can because all these people are out there but need someone to encourage them and make them believe that they can also do it if they put their mind and heart to it. He is also hoping on working with a lot of organizations that teach the youth on HIV and AIDS, Human Rights, empower youth and showcases talent.
