Miss eThekwini 2012 turns into a cheap township pagent

Image
Friday the 28th was the night meant to be all Glitz & Glam but turned to a little township pageant and a complete disaster. For a pageant that has been going on for so many years and that is eThekwini region as a whole and also with the budget from eThekwini municipality it supposed to be the top notch! First it was the marketing, pathetic is almost the perfect word to describe it. There was nothing, as in nothing! How are people suppose to know about the pageant? I, myself got to know about it through one of the sponsors for the show. The opening sequence, I dint know what to say, either do it right or not at all! Then timing, Jesus Christ!!! The last thing anyone ever want is to be at the pageant for more than 2 hours, but Miss eThekwini went on for 6 hours and I'm still wondering why? I really didn't understand. The food!! The food people, honestly, I cant! How do people run up and down going to queue to dish the food while the pageant is on? What happened to...

Fans demanded more songs from LIRA, Jonny Clegg & Toya Delazy at #ECRDurbanDay

Image
#ECRDurbanDay line-up brought some of the hottest acts on the South African music scene, with the fiercely popular rock band The Parlotones, to the hugely acclaimed Jonny Clegg, the local KZN songstress Toya Delazy and rich silky sound of LIRA the concert was on the other level. One would swear you are at the Glastonbury Festival. Pity when I got to the fest, @Khayamthethwa and @shekhinald from @IdolsSA top 10 had already performed whom I really wanted to see performe as I have never experience them live but I think I got there at the perfect moment when @ToyaDelazy was getting on stage. O.M.G, the audience of more than 10 000 people went mad when she performed. She sang her hit songs from her debut album Due Drop and the crowd sang along with stunning dance moves. When Toya sang an acoustic of one of her singles made most people cry which she interpreted as a song that speaks to her journey from where she comes from to where she is today. She was really on...

D.U.R.A.M.A At Lebo Mathosa's Tribute Show #DramaQueen

Image
Ever since the premier of #DramaQueen, a theatre production on Lebo Mathosa there was NEVER piece but D.U.R.A.M.A!!! As a Durbanite I thought I was missing out. I remember when I first read that two of my favourites, ( @SindiNene & Khanyi Mbau) are playing Lebo Mathosa I was ‘’over the moon’’! A part of me was worried though because I know Khanyi Mbau is vocally challenged especially if it’s anything to compare to Lebo Mathosa, then I thought maybe she is there for acting purposes only. Mind you I was not sure if it’s a musical or drama as nothing on the marketing materials could really be specific on what it was. (Not that there was any I bumped into, not even the free facebook event updates) I saw some of the personalities tweeting about it and also on Sindi Nene’s website.   On the day of #DramaQueen premier I read NOTHING but negative comments from most well known names such as Lebo Mathosa, Koyo Bala and more… The day after I read a publication by Daily Sun that the s...
