Royalty Soapie Awards 2014
So much has been said and speculated about these awards, some event asked questions like "will they ever happen" but hey, here we go...
The much talked about Royalty Soapie Awards will take place on Saturday, 8 March 2014 at the Durban International Convention Centre (Durban ICC) when South Africa’s soap stars, industry heavyweights, commentators, celebrities and socialites will come out in their finest livery to celebrate the industry’s best.
Royalty Soapie Awards project director Sindile Xulu was thrilled to break the news. “As a team we are relieved to have a firm date and we will focus our energies on producing a top-class event that reflects the excellence of the work done by South Africa’s burgeoning television soap industry. It will be a night of glamour, entertainment and celebration."
Durban ICC Chief Executive Officer Julie-May Ellingson says the venue is ready to host the show. “The Durban ICC is synonymous with the best in class events and we will roll-out the red carpet and the best infrastructure our venue has to offer.”
The awards will be broadcast on SABC 1 for all the fans at home.
“We are in the process of finalising our negotiations for next years event and we are confident we will strike a win-win deal for all," said SABC TV general manager Leo Manne.
The second announcement of finalists in the acting categories will be made on 23 October and voting lines for the Most Popular Soapie opens on 2 November.
A date for the opening of ticket sales for the event will be announced in the near future.
