Cell C hands over funds raised for breast cancer
survivors
Cell C handed over a
cheque for a whopping R100 000 to the Reach for Recovery’s ‘Ditto Project’. The
money, raised from the prestigious 2016 Cell C
Playing for Pink Ladies Invitational Polo, will go towards providing
women who have had mastectomies after being diagnosed with breast cancer with
silicone prostheses.
Said
Suzette van der Merwe, Managing Executive of the Cell C Foundation: “ Cell C
has a strong focus on the empowerment of women in South Africa and the polo
event aligns itself with so many of our objectives. While the event itself
entertains and delights, the real objective of this initiative is to create
awareness and raise funds for Reach for Recovery and the wonderful work they
do.”
Said
Sandra Strydom, Reach for Recovery regional representative for Gauteng South:
“We are so grateful to Cell C for this much needed funding. The women who
cannot afford to have reconstructive surgery have their self-image and
confidence restored with the fitted prostheses that we can provide.”
“While the day is full of glitz and
glamour, our true aim is to support breast cancer survivors through Reach for
Recovery’s Ditto Project. This year we doubled the funds raised in 2015 and we
look forward to supporting this worthy cause in 2017.” says event organiser,
Edith Venter.
The next Cell C Playing
for Pink Ladies Invitational Polo will take place at the Inanda Club on
Saturday 28 October 2017.
