Durban Fashion Fair 2017 is here! Excitement is building for the annual Durban Fashion Fair (DFF) 2017 where over 40 designers, including seven from Africa, will take to the ramp in 16 shows at the Inkosi Albert Luthuli International Convention Centre. We are excited to see designers who have been part of DFF since it inception being part of the 6th edition. Designers such as Paledi Segapo of Palse, ZARTH,  House of Alfalfa and House of StLuke have shown their excusite garments from the beginning of DFF and will be part of this year's edition. My Kitchen Rules kicks off with tension, tears and taste-bud risks in Bloemfontein  On Sunday 13 August at 18:00 M-Net 101 will be turning up the heat with  My Kitchen Rules South Africa,  the channel’s brand new local reality cooking show based on the mega television hit from Australia. In the first episode, the cameras roll in Bloemfontein where two “besties”, working moms Leanne and Liz,  have to put their 'best food forward' to impress the critics around the table.  This exciting format plays out in different stages, showcasing the cuisine of pairs of contestants from around the country. For the next five weeks, the first five pairs of contestants have to create an instant restaurant in their own homes where their food is scored by their rival contestants as well as celebrity chefs David Higgs and J’ Something. DFF brings further career options to Durban Youth As part of their mentee programme, the Durban Fashion Fair team recently identified five aspirant makeup artists to take part in a five day master class. They will form part of the 15 strong Kryolan make-up crew for the upcoming Durban Fashion Fair which takes place at the ICC from August 23-26 and proudly presented by the eThekwini Municipality. The five were selected from amongst a large number of youngster who completed application forms during a career expo and backed by sponsor, Kryolan, one of the world’s largest make up companies. The master class course involved many make up styles featuring that of natural looks, smoky eyes, fashion forward and fashion photographic looks. SLAYING GOLIATH AKA DAVID TSHABALALA'S RUN THE WORLD EXHIBITION AT  JOZIBURG AT ONE ELOFF 9 AUGUST  2pm - 7pm During the month of August, graphic designer David Tshabalala, popularly known as Slaying Goliath, will be showcasing his Run the World series of images at Joziburg, Johannesburg’s freshest new downtown complex at One Eloff. The exhibition stems from his three year old Instabition that profiles a woman a day through the month of August, in his playful and graphic style. David Tshabalala is a rising graphic designer, the merit in his work has seen him selected to be an Emerging Creative at the 2013  Design Indaba.  He has been featured in various creative blogs and was a mentee on the Play Energy Drink sponsored Creative Union reality show on Vuzu  in 2013 . South African and KZN Talent to Shine at this year’s 19 th  annual JOMBA! Contemporary Dance Experience 23 August – 3 September 2017 The JOMBA! Contemporary Dance Experience, hosted by the University of KwaZulu-Natal’s Centre for Creative Arts (situated in the College of Humanities), showcases a number of South African, and international choreographers, dancers and dance-makers at this year’s 19 th  edition which takes place at various venues in Durban from 23 August to 3 September. Dance-lovers can expect to see a variety of contemporary styles speaking to a myriad issues from Johannesburg, Durban and Cape Town, and then further afield from Holland (INTRODANS), Germany (steptext dance projects) and the West African country of Benin (Marcel Gbeffa). Opening night on August 23 features choreography by South Africa’s celebrated dancer and dance-maker Gregory Maqoma of Vuyani Dance Theatre in collaboration with Helge Letonja, of Germany’s steptext dance projects....
