Spotify Offers Local Music Fans a Bespoke Experience at CAN DO! Is Rocking the Daisies 2019

Spotify has once again partnered with CAN DO! Is Rocking the Daises 2019 to treating music fans to a host of exciting talent,
some of whom have graced the festival's stages since its inception 14 years ago.

Between 4-6 October, South Africa’s biggest three-day music experience, CAN DO! Is Rocking the Daisies 2019will be treating music fans to a host of exciting talent, some of whom have graced the festival’s stages since its inception 14 years ago. To add to the experience, global streaming platform, Spotify, has again come on board to provide festival goers with individually curated playlists, matched to their listening tastes and featuring acts from the festival line up.

With the variety of popular artists appearing in this year’s festival including; John Cena star Sho Madjozi, British artists - rapper GIGGS andThe 1975, one Spotify’s most streamed artists - Nasty C and its first top streamed local female artist Shekinah plus many more, there will be plenty of exciting listening ahead.

For the second consecutive year, Spotify joins Rocking the Daisies as the official music streaming partner. The global brand recently celebrated its one year anniversary since the platform launched into the local market, benefitting music lovers and artists alike by giving fans access to a catalogue of over 50 million tracks and over 3 billion playlists and the ability to continuously discover new music whenever and wherever they want.

Last year Rocking the Daisies became one of the first events in South Africa to implement a playlist generator, following in the steps of Coachella. It served users music from the line-up that matched their general listening habits. This was connected to Spotify via the Festival App giving users the ability to stream full songs, in-app.

“Spotify immerses itself in the markets and cultures where it is available by curating music specifically tailored to the local audience. Spotify has been an instrumental vehicle for South African artists to enter an international stage, allowing them to showcase their music to a diverse crowd of more than 232 million monthly active listeners, while introducing global audiences to music and artists they may otherwise not have been able to discover. We are thrilled about our partnership with Rocking the Daisies supporting this year’s exciting line-up, where music fans around the world can access and enjoy their songs,” says Claudius Boller, Spotify MD, Middle East & Africa.

As we move into South Africa’s Summer festival season, Spotify has launched a new hub called Music Festivals, which demonstrates Spotify’s commitment to growing these partnerships in the local market.  The hub currently features A Taste of Daisies, an extensive playlist that includes talent from the upcoming CAN DO! Is Rocking the Daisies 2019 festival - perfect to get festive goers ready for the experience. The hub will continuously be updated and feature playlists from South Africa’s top music festivals.

According to Zethu Gqola, Head of Marketing at Rocking the Daisies, “The true magic in music occurs when an artist is captured at the perfect moment in their career. Whether that artist is one of the world’s biggest musicians, or they are busking and playing small gigs in their hometown, we curate beautiful experiences, connect people and cultures, and put on an incredible production that is unmatched by any festival in SA.  Our vision for music is so aligned with Spotify’s, that this partnership came naturally.”

Artists who have graced the Daisies stages over its 14 years include Mac Miller, legendary jazz musician Hugh Masekela, Flume, The Kooks, Rudimental, Skunk Anasie, MGMT, Black Coffee, Cassper Nyovest, Bloc Party, 6lack, Mura Masa and more. In 2018 Daisies made history and hosted the world’s biggest Soulection line-up, after which Coachella booked the crew for the 2019 event.
