Inside The 100 David Tlale AFI Centenary Showcase

Yesterday, on the last day of Africa Fashion International, JoBurg members of the media and VIP guest gathered at Sky Rink studios downtown JoBurg for The David Tlale Nelson Mandela Centenary Showcase. 

David Tlale who has been in the business for 16 years, closed AFI in style with 100 looks on the runway. The showcase was definitely a memorable one. This was proof that David Tlale is a leading brand in Africa. The show was sponsored by Courvoisier, the luxury cognac that David has been in partnership with since early 2017. Wella, MAC and Proudly South Africa. 


To seal off AFIJFW renowned producer Jan Malan of Umzingeli production was billed to produce the show, internationally recognized designer, David Tlale showcased the Azania collection which was broken down into six different sub-collections. 

The six sub-collections had stunning “Blangola” collection, men’s underwear range of boxer briefs and silky gowns, a yellow and black range of maxi dresses, two-pieces men’s suit- all with wordy prints of Nelson Mandela’s quotes, the defusion range, David by David Tlale which is an everyday-wear and a hot summer fashion fantasy of dusty pink garments with a touch of green- a collection that debuted in New York Fashion Week.

Immediately after the showcase, guests were invited to get down at the after party with Vusi Nova who performed his hit songs live
