The Nedbank Ke Yona Team Search Comes To Mzansi Magic

The seventh edition of the leading football talent scouting programme, Nedbank Ke Yona Team Search (KYTS), will reach South African households when it plays exclusively on Mzansi Magic Channel 161 from 25 July 2019.

For 12 weeks, viewers will be introduced to the emotions that go into finding the best football talent in the country. Players will be put to the test by the best in the business; Doctor “16V” Khumalo, Jerry “Legs of Thunder”
Sikhosana and Khabo Zondo - the three legends tasked with finding the Nedbank Ke Yona Class of 2019.

The final 18-man team will play a Ke Yona Challenge fixture against Nedbank Cup champions and South Africa’s CAF Confederation Cup representatives, TS Galaxy, later this year, giving the search’s finalists the chance to showcase their skills to a national audience.

Tobie Badenhorst, Nedbank’s Head of Sponsorship and Cause Marketing, also added: “The television show on Mzansi Magic will capture the imagination of South African homes as we showcase the 2019 edition of the KYTS. This is another way that we, as a bank, continue to invest in the development of South African football. The programme is not only about giving amateur footballers the chance to play for a professional team, but also strives to uplift players and their communities through financial education.

Head of PR and Publicity, Philly Kubheka, said: “We are excited to bring South Africa’s favourite search to Mzansi Magic viewers, where we will all get to track the journey of thousands of young hopefuls as they aim to make the Nedbank Ke Yona Team. What the audiences will see in every episode is all the backroom drama that will give them personal access into finding the next football stars.”

Zondo concluded: “I have been fortunate enough to have been a part of this set-up from the onset in 2013 with the opportunity of unearthing some of the country’s best talent through this programme. Aubrey Modiba and Bongani Sam have gone on to represent Bafana Bafana while our other KYTS products like Zairon Abrahams and the late Thembinkosi Mbamba won the Nedbank Cup with TS Galaxy in May.”
