BONANG MATHEBA TO HOST THE FASHION CATWALK BET EXPERIENCE AFRICA

With just 7 days to go before the BET Experience Africa opens its doors, BET (DStv channel 129) and AFI Africa's Fashion Icon BONANG MATHEBA will be hosting the BET Fashion Walk Experience Africa where his co brand ambassador David Tlale will be showing his inspirational fashion collections at Africa’s biggest lifestyle festival (Ticketpro Dome, 12 December).
Amongst other designers that will be showing alongside Tlale at the BET Experience Africa will be designers Martelle Ludek, Thebe Magugu and Nthabiseng Molefe. They join previously announced designers NN Vintage (new label of Mafikizolo lead vocalist Nhlanhla Nciza), Loin Cloth & Ashes, Tuelo Nguyuza Collectiv, KL Tsotetsi and Rich Mnisi showcasing South African design and creativity on the catwalk at the Festival.

RECAP ON THE CHEVROLET FEATHER AWARDS JOURNEY

The event was founded in 2008 by Thami Kotlolo as a tongue-in-cheek, light-hearted celebration of high-profile individuals who, the organisers say, have inspired, scandalised and amused South Africa’s LGBTI community over the past year.
They have grown in a way that their media coverage cam be measured to theSouth African Music Awards & South African Sports Awards if not bigger. 
They have done so much LGBTI visibility through mainstream media than any LGBTI organization funded to do the work. 
With so much success since the past few years, a month ago, twitter came to a stand still with a group of women accusing The Chevrolet Feather Awards of  acknowledging the straight community using the nameLesbain, Gay, Bisexul, Transgender & Intersex people and doing nothing for the LGBTI individuals who live in the township and disadvantaged.

Idols band’s choices

With the shocking departure of Loyiso Gijana last Sunday only four Idols SA Season 11 contestants are left rehearsing this week, and for once all four of them will get a chance to perform on Sunday before they have to bid farewell to yet another friend.

The songs for the Top 3 Spectacular at the State Theatre this Sunday [8 November] were chosen for the contestants by the Idols SA band, and will kick off with two duets. 24-year-old Siphelele Ngcobo from Inanda and 24-year-old Karabo Mogane from Mbombela are teaming up to perform L’loyd Cele and Loyiso Bala’s hit “Thando”, and the only woman left standing in this competition, 23-year-old Mmatema Moremi from Limpopo, is singing Ariana Grande’s “Love Me Harder” with Rhema Varrie (21) from Alberton.

There are also spectacular guest appearances this week by the South African group Gangs of Ballet and by the Motswako Originator himself, Khuli Chana, along with Patoranking.

IDOLS SA Top 5 Spectacular! Viewers Choice Performances

                                 Starring Carly Rae Jepsen!

Billboard Music Award winner Carly Rae Jepsen is the special guest artist for this Sunday’sIdols SA Season 11 Top 5 Spectacular at the State Theatre in Pretoria.

The 29-year-old Canadian pop star originally got her first start in Idols as well, placing third in Season 5 of Canadian Idols in 2007. Since then she has gone on to dominate world charts with hit after hit, like 2011’s “Call Me Maybe”, and “I Really Like You” this year.

Jepsen kicks her South African tour off in Cape Town on 21 October and will also play Pretoria on 24 October before being the special Idols SA guest alongside the Season 11 Top 5 on Sunday.

The dual musical themes for the Top 5 this week are “How It Should Be Done” and “Viewers’ Choice”.

As always, even though the remaining contestants will be rehearsing hard all week long, not all of the Top 6 will get to perform on Sunda…
