VOICES: Actors Turn Their Rape Tragedies Into Victory!

“The play will be cathartic to those living in emotional shame and dealing with the emotional turmoil of rape”
- Bhele.

Prolific actors and rape survivors come together to turn their tragedies into a play titled VOICES and to tell their stories of sorrow to victory.

Closing off this year’s Woman’s Month on a high note, Ntsiki Dzume (36), Nomaxabiso Rose Mondi (33), Vumisipho Mondi (19), Musa Gebuza (21), Mamosedi Moloi (26), Zachi Lucia (36) and Rachell Pretorius (25) aim to be the voice of the mum women in South African Women who are and or have been victims of sexual assault.

Written by mother and daughter; Nomaxabiso Rose Mondi and Vumisipho Mbondi both acting in the play and directed by Sakhile Ziyanda the cast believe that  “VOICES will be a safe space to truly express a range of emotions.”

Mentored by veteran actor and writer JERRY MOFOKENG, the actors dig deep into their experiences to help others to heal. Mofokeng says being part of a production that encourages others is healing for him.

“When the women heal, the country heals,” he says.
