DAVEYTON TOWNSHIP CAME TO A STAND STILL!

After a dramatic morning because of JHB traffic, to start a day with a great smile wasn't a success at all but things looked great for a shoot in Daveyton in the end! Today I joined the Iranti-Org (A queer visual media organization) www.iranti-org.co.za to shoot a documentary that I will be leading, interviewing different queens about Gay & Transwomen beauty pageants and also people from outside the picture. The final product is set to come out by the end of the year so you can imagine the work we are yet to do!

As we got in Daveyton today around 9am, and we were so late :-(! oh well, that not really the issue right now, is it? :-) We got there and the queen was ready for the camera! Miss Somizi that we went to photograph and interview who won Miss uThingo last year December, born and raised in Daveyton. 

We shot the interview inside his cozy space and right after that we went to do a few shots by the main road of Daveyton eMaXhoseni, O.M.G! Believe me or not, everyone was outside watching through th windows, standing by the gate, U name it, even your old 57 year old granny was outside, as for the guys, I don't know... It would seem some of the townships are actually more understanding and getting used to the idea of LGBTI people being around them. The last time I saw people starring like that was when Move Magazine shot Khanyi Mbau's cover!
