Dr Tumi to gather worshippers at Voortrekker Monument

In yet another historic gospel first, music genius Dr Tumi takes his highly successful Gathering of Worshippers (GOW18) to Voortrekker Monument in Pretoria for a Live DVD recording themed Beauty for Ashes on 1 September 2018.

Dr Tumi becomes the first solo black musician to stage a concert at the Monument, in what is a reconciliatory move and an effort to overcome South Africa’s painful past of prejudice and separation.
The outdoor venue that accommodates about 30 000 will be a magical backdrop of worship under the stars as supporters of Dr Tumi from all over the country and the neighbouring states are expected to descend on it.  Last year Dr Tumi filled the Ticketpro Dome in Johannesburg at the inaugural instalment of GOW.

GOW18 happens on Spring Day, a poignant day of renewal and all things bright. This feeds directly to the theme of Colour, hence the title Beauty for Ashes Live DVD recording. There will be a kaleidoscopic explosion of colour on the worshippers in celebration of the rainbow nation coming together to worship in one space filled with history and also marking Spring.
It will be a day of beauty for ashes, to quote the holy scriptures, as worshippers get invigorated and spiritually fulfilled ahead of the summer days.

Dr Tumi will also make history as the first local gospel star to have his concert streamed live on Vodacom View+. Subscribers will be able to witness GOW18 wherever they are in the world via a special streaming line that will be announced in due course.
Dr Tumi comments: ‘I always strive to give the best experience to my supporters. And I believe this venue will carry a significant meaning and symbolism as South Africa continues on its journey of reconciliation and nation building with God on our side.

‘GOW18 will be an unforgettable night of worship and praise and I’m delighted to have partnered with Vodacom as we use technology to reach an even wider audience beyond Voortrekker Monument. It will be spectacular, it will be colourful and certainly an experience not to be missed.’ said Dr Tumi

Dr Tumi begins 2018 on a high having spent some time in studio with legendary US instrumentalist Kirk Whalum collaborating on a song to be released later in the year.
He also expands his music empire with Chronicles, a group he recently signed to his stable Wave Records after meeting on social media and striking the perfect chords.

After the phenomenal success of the Gathering Of Worshippers CD he released last year, Dr Tumi releases the DVD of the live recording on Friday 9 March 2018.
The GOW 2018 will be held as follows:
Date: Saturday, 1 September 2018

This is the second Gathering of Worshippers (GOW) by Dr Tumi. The first one was held in 2017 at the sold out Ticketpro Dome.
