Huawei Joburg Day in the Park headlined by iconic TKZee

The iconic Kwaito group, TKZee, headlined the 3rd annual Huawei Joburg Day in the Park at Emmarentia Botanical Gardens.

Showcasing their legendary quality, the trio relived their 90’s album Halloween when they performed to a sold out audience of 15 000 fans and listeners of one of Gauteng’s biggest commercial radio station, 947.

Thando Makhunga, 947 station manager said that the event brings all corners of Joburg together in a beautiful space to share special moments with their favourite artists. “For 947 the partnership with a global brand like Huawei enables us to support and celebrate the great story of South African music. Audiences now expect iconic artistic moments and a world class production at every Huawei Joburg Day. 947 Supports several major music events in Joburg and will continue to bring listeners closer to the music and artists they love,” she continued.

TKZee reunited for an energetic set filled with kwaito classics, while Mango Groove, Sho Madjozi, Matthew Mole, Mi Casa, Holly Rey and Beatenberg & Tresor had young and old dancing and singing along. Hit maker Prince Kaybee had the crowd asking for more with an electrifying performance with rising star Msaki.  It was amazing to watch DJ Zinhle’s first show with a full band and special guest Tamara Dey who delivered a powerful performance. Sun EL & Simmy, Shortstraw and Easy Freak also showed why they are topping local charts.
Akhram Mohammed, Huawei SA Chief Technology Officer said, “The most important thing for Huawei Joburg Day in the Park and 947 is that it is truly South African. It brings out the South African spirit.

For Huawei, as a brand, South Africa is the fastest growing market globally and it’s about giving back to South Africa.”
Adding that mobile brands are about connecting people and music does it in the best possible way. Akhram said, “Irrespective of language or beat, people connect to music and that’s why it is important for Huawei to be a part of events like this.
Our phones are specially about creating memories that will stay with the users for years to come.”
“We’ve partnered with 947 on this event for a few years now and we look forward to many more,” Akhram continued.
