Global Citizen Festival To Be Broadcast Live On DStv, SABC, & Viacom’s MTV International Channels!

The live broadcast of Global Citizen Festival will be transmitted in over 180 countries across six continents.

Global Citizen Festival to partner with DStv, SABC, MTV International for global live broadcast of Global Citizen Festival: Mandela 100; hosted and presented by the Motsepe Foundation.

Early this year the internet shut down with the announcement that Beyoncé & JAY-Z, Cassper Nyovest, D'banj, Ed Sheeran, Eddie Vedder, Femi Kuti, Kasey Musgraves, Pharrell Williams & Chris Martin, Sho Madjozi, Tiwa Savage, Usher, and Wizkid will headline the first Global Citizen Festival to be held in Johannesburg, South Africa. 

The much anticipated Global Citizen Festival: Mandela 100 will be hosted by Trevor Noah with co-hosts Naomi Campbell, Dave Chappelle, Sir Bob Geldof, Gayle King, Bonang Matheba, Nomzamo Mbatha, Tyler Perry, and Forest Whitaker and Oprah Winfrey will deliver a special keynote address at the Festival remembering Nelson Mandela and his legacy.

It was worse when fans learnt that tickets are to be earned, through Global Citizen , this meant tickets are not guaranteed to even those who do not mind tanking a fat portion from their savings to get themselves a ticket. When a limited number of tickets were available for sale, within a blink of an eye, they were sold out. 

YouTube and Twitter Presented by Johnson &  Johnson came to our rescue when they announced that they will broadcast digitally. However, that was not enough as most people, especially here in South Africa still believe in traditional broadcast. To our surprise, and excitement, we have learn that the Global Citizen Festival will be Broadcast Live nn DStv, SABC, and Viacom’s MTV International channels! This means even if you are not at FNB in Johannesburg on the 2nd of December, you will be able to catch up with the festival activities and watch your favourite musicians perform as MultiChoice will make the live broadcast available on DStv channel 199 to all its customers across the African continent and the SABC will enable the public broadcaster to bring the symbolic Mandela 100 concert to South African audiences. 

Speaking of availing the opportunity to the fans was the CEO  for General Entertainment of Multichoice, Yolisa Phahle who said " We look forward to sharing this with our customers on the 2^nd of December, and also giving them access to the musical highlights in the days thereafter. Mandela believed that music unites us and uplifts us – and here at MultiChoice, we believe that too.” and,
