FIRST THURSDAY AT THE STANDARD BANK GALLERY:

MEGAN GEOFFREY PRINS, THE NEW STANDARD BANK YOUNG ARTIST FOR MUSIC WILL RESPOND TO THE WORK OF CHRISTO COETZEE

In 1961, Christo Coetzee became the first South African to exhibit at New York’s Museum of Modern Art, alongside Picasso and Miró.

Years later, the South Africa’s forefather of abstract expressionism shocked the art world by slashing 23 of his own works, only to reconstruct them later.

A major retrospective of his work – The Safest Place is the Knife’s Edge – is now showing at the Standard Bank Gallery.

Join us for a special first Thursday event tonight, the 1st of November, where 2019 Standard Bank Young Artist for Music, Megan-Geoffrey Prins will respond musically to Coetzee’s work.

Doors open at 6pm
The performance starts at 7pm

Address:  Standard Bank Gallery, c/o Simmonds and Frederick Streets, Johannesburg.
Safe undercover parking in the Standard Bank parkade, c/o Harrison and Frederick streets.
