Idols SA Season 12 Auditions kicked off with a bang in Durban!

Idols SA Season 12 Auditions kicked off with a bang over the weekend in Durban at the Playhouse with more than 2000 hopefuls.

tell if “the warmest place in South Africa”
will unearth the next Idol! - ProVerb

Idols season 12 auditions took place on Saturday at the Durban Playhouse and as usually thousands of hopefuls flocked in to do their best to impress the judges.
Returning for the 5th time to Idols SA auditions Nokwazi Maphumulo (27) & Ntando Maphumulo (22) were not bothered by the repeated by rejection.

Some went as far as camping outside to make sure they do not miss the chance to audition for the judges.

 “I didn’t even have a jersey,
so those of us who were outside huddled to keep warm.
But now the cold has affected my voice” - Phumzile Washusha

over night campers Bongo drummer Mxolisi Manqele (24) of New Castle and Phumzile Washusha (21) from Ntuzuma with nothing to keep them warm survived the night and the cold affected the hoarse Washusha, who works as a cleaner for a living.

Small talks made a huge role not to notice how long the queue was, as this was the best turn out yet that even impresed Idols SA presenter & co-excecutive producer ProVerb.

“Durban has delivered every single season I’ve been part of,
both from a turn out point of view but most especially from a talent point of view. And this year is no different.
The Zulu Kingdom has come to the party and produced once again”
- ProVerb

For SA Idols SA presenter Proverb Idols SA winners Khaya Mthethwa and Vincent Bones had set the tone for the rest of the audition tour, which I personally believe he forgot to mention the runner ups such as Lloyd Cele who have done extremely well and Shekhinah Donnel who have released two hit singles (Let you know & Back to the beach) that are making it bid in the airwaves.

The 6th of February 2016 the search is on in Pretoria’s State Theatre, then Carnival City in Joburg on 28 February 2016, and finishes off at Cape Town’s Grand West Entertainment World on 5 March 2016.

Entry is free and open to all South African citizens who are between 16 and 30 years old on the date of their first audition.

Bring your ID document to the audition, and minors must have written consent signed by a parent or guardian.
